He asks this important question:

Why is it so rarely the case that a local church includes a “how we live” statement along with a “what we believe” statement? Is the “performance” issue not important?

Are we too individualistic - private - non-connecting in north america [writing as a Canadian] to accept this? In which case we have missed out on what being the body of Christ is all about.
Are we too satisfied with simply an intellectual understanding of christianity? In which case we have missed out on what Jesus was all about.

Scott is looking at emergent village's "rule" or "order" as an example of a group that is attempting to do this.
