Canada USA relations

"Canada is a sweet country. It is like your retarded cousin you see at Thanksgiving and sort of pat him on the head. You know, he's nice but you don't take him seriously. That's Canada."
Tucker Carlson

And Americans wonder why Canadians like not being American

Actually, I am very pleased we are NOT the object of their lust or affections. Sooner or later they will want our water and other resources.

For now...Canada is a 'nice' piece of real estate between Russia/China which serves well as a no-man's land in a game of nasty nukes and strategical air space. Kind of like Iraq is a 'nice' distant place in which to wage a war...why do it on one's home turf when you can seed deleated uranium in a land far, far away.

God bless our 'smart' neighbours (actually I have a sister and other relatives there..but then again aboriginal people never knew there was a border until they were told there was one)!

To borrow a Gaither quote: 'I am so glad I am a part of the family of God'.

you are quoting the Gaither's - the world as we know it must be coming to an end :-)

Should He Tarry...Yup - right up there when I start leading a 'trad church' and watching 'pigs fly' in my spare time. Can't think of any better... Although I can say with my hand over my heart and no fingers crossed that I have never gone to a Gaither concert - better known as 'Christian entertainment'...but I do have a couple of my wife's Gaither CD's. They make dandy coasters for both cold and hot beverages. I think I will take up skeet shooting this summer - could use more space in my house.

My first choice is actually (apparently number two best selling album this past year in London ON):

Artist : Green Day

Title : American Idiot

Album : American Idiot

Genre : Modern Rock

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
Don't want a nation under the new media.
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mindfuck America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
Well that's enough to argue.

Well maybe I'm the faggot America.
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda.
Now everybody do the propaganda.
And sing along in the age of paranoia.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
Well that's enough to argue.

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
One nation controlled by the media.
Information nation of hysteria.
It's going out to idiot America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.

So now we know that "the righteousness of God" is a Vestal Goodman/Bill Gaither fan (may Vestal and her hair rest in peace.) But I do give "righteousness" (whoever he/she may be) some kudos for knowing of/owning the "American Idiot" CD. It is unfortunate that many people, including myself, are concerned with what the U.S. thinks of us. I am glad to live in a country which is at least a little more acceptable of diverse opinions than the U.S. is. Which is the country that has thousands of its citizens dying in the name of a lie? Oh wait, it's not Canada. Which country boasts a President that continues to lie about connections between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein? Not Canada. I'll stick with my Canadian citizenship. However fucked up our political system may be, at least we aren't involved in the Iraq mess. Call us domicile, Tucker, I don't mind, you're just a currently-popular cable news host. I'll be grateful for the thousands of Canadian lives that weren't lost for a lie.

Well, I'll say this....if your intent was to quicken the flames of the anti-american sentiment amongst your audience, you surely suceeded. Somehow, I don't think you thought you'd get what you did. But, alas.....

All the best to the Bells family this Christmas Season. Peace.
