Homilophobia

Darryl Dash, pastor at Richview Baptist asks the question:

Do you get nauseous when listening to a sermon?

It may be caused by a troubling medical condition called homilophobia or fear of sermons:
Known by a number of names - Homilophobia and Fear of Sermons being the most common - the problem often significantly impacts the quality of life. It can cause panic attacks and keep people apart from loved ones and business associates. Symptoms typically include shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread, although everyone experiences homilophobia in their own way and may have different symptoms.

I recognize this in many people. It explains the people who run out screaming when I start to preach. Happens every Sunday.
To add insult to an already distressing condition, most homilophobia therapies take months or years and sometimes even require the patient to be exposed repeatedly to their fear [sermons]. We believe that not only is this totally unnecessary, it will often make the condition worse. And it is particularly cruel as homilophobia can be eliminated with the right methods and just 24 hours of commitment by the phobic individual.

Even if you don't suffer from this distressing condition, [click here for treatment] you just may be more phobic than you realize. Check out the list of phobias.

Why do you think some are accussed of 'forsaking'!?!?! (L0L)

Last I heard part of church discipline was mandatory sentencing to the highest act of worship - the sermon!!!!

Seriously, I found God speaks to each uniquely...people can hear the same sermon but have come away with something totally different.

$1497 USD.

That's how much it costs.

I suppose that's cheaper than getting some speaking lessons?

Wait, how many people are listening?

Perhaps, and not speaking to the host of this blog specifically, but to all pastors in general, perhaps if you would start to speak or preach sermons WORTH LISTENING TO, none would be afraid.

If you spend 15 minutes preparing for a 45 minute lecture, you will suck.

Put a microphone in front of some people, and they won't shut up.

The quality of a sermon is based in its simplicity, and its length. 10 minutes max. Gosh, anything else and you're creating phobias in the audience members.

I am so confused...Just for clarification...in some churches they embrace (better stated they support)homosexual pastors.....would the correct emerging church, politically correct evangelical term be 'Homophobic Homilophobia' - to describe being afraid of a homosexual's sermon?

so what would it be called if you are afraid of an emerging pastor's sermon?
