Praying for a Transformed City

Pray GTA has a post on praying for a transformed city (not yet up as I write this:
Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Jeremiah 29:7

Glen Smith, of Christian Direction in Montreal, was one of the speakers at the November Canadian City Impact Consultation in Ottawa (a gathering of over 80 leaders from 35 towns and cities from across Canada). He spoke on the subject of 12 Key Indicators of a Transformed City. Glen and his staff asked the question, what would a transformed Montreal look like? The 12 keys are their answer to that question. Because of their intensive research, Glen and his staff are able to track any changes in each of the 12 areas.

We are not nearly as advanced in terms of research in the GTA, but I include the 12 indicators here as prayer action points for 2006. Please pray for…
1. Increasing number of churches actively involved in spiritual transformation.
2. Concrete acts of reconciliation and justice for the welfare of the city.
3. Leaders leading a demonstration of the Gospel in all aspects of the city.
4. Equity in all aspects of the city.
5. Children and youth welfare and wellness.
6. Decline in suicides.
7. Marriage & family health.
8. Most vulnerable reconnecting through multiple opportunities.
9. Decline in violence.
10. Decline in sexual abuse against women and children.
11. Artistic expression and heritage valued.
12. Environmental improvement.

What would this look like in KW (Kitchener-Waterloo).
Pray for these indicators of a transformed city for your city throughout 2006. Then look for signs of improvement in your local news.
