Canada is out. Hockey as it has been known in Canada is over. Let the hand-wringing and the finger-pointing begin. This loss is going to be dissected, over and over and over again, for the next four years until we hit Vancouver. Russia moves on to play the undefeated Finns in the semis.
So let me my 2 cents in.
It's not about skill level.
It's not about Gretzky.
It's not about Pat Quinn (although he does coach the Leafs!!!!)
It's not about Bertussi.
It's not about the age of the players.
It's about the difference between how the Canadian women and Canadian men play.
Watching the Canadian women play, you saw a team.
Watching the Canadian men play, you saw a bunch of skilled hockey players, not a team.
Just my 2 cents.

They didn't win because they didn't play, and all of that because they didn't deserve it.
You can't go in assuming you're going to win because you're a team comprised of all NHL players.
Wasn't the womens team in Turin for a couple weeks before the Olympics even started? When did the mens team show up?
did the men's team ever show up?
I think it's time for the olympic movement to seriously reconsider the issue of professionals. one of the cbc radio news people [sorry i forget who] observed that in the medal ceremony, Chandra Crawford [gold medal in women's cross-country sprint] sang O Canada, unlike our [this may not be an exact quote - but it's close]"overpaid male hockey players who upon hearing it played act as if they have never heard it before."
