Persecution Continues in China

Rick Meigs at the Blind Begger reminds us that persecution continues in China. Recent news from the China Aid Association:
More Christian Leaders Arrested After Church Demolition
China Aid Association learned that 3 more Christian leaders from Xiaoshan district were arrested on August 3, 47 are still in jail. The three leaders are brother Ni Huiming(45-year-old), sister Shen Zhuke (52-year-old), and brother Shen Jian(48-year-old), The local authority is threatening to force all Christian companies to pay heavy fine for their support of church building which was destroyed on July 29. One Christian lady sister Wang Aizhen from Kanshan town, Xiaoshgan district was severely beaten by the anti-riot police on July 29 and one of her chest bones was broken and she is still being hospitalized.

Large House Church Destroyed
[On] the afternoon of July 29, a large house church building was destroyed and many Christians were arrested and wounded during the confrontation. The house church building is located at Che Lu Wan Village, Dangshan Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. According to eyewitness reports, the destruction of the church building started at 2:30 PM, July 29. Several thousand anti-riot police, military police and government workers along with three hundred military vehicles arrived and surrounded the church building at 1:30 PM while 10,000 House Church Christian were praying in the church. The church has been under construction since July 17, 2006 and was almost complete when it was destroyed.

Sunday School Teacher’s Training Class in Anhui Raided, 40 Detained
China Aid Association learned that the morning of July 27, a Sunday school teacher’s training class in Wangxi Production Group, Gengwang Zhuang, Tong Xu Village, Huainan City, Anhui Province was attacked by the local national security guard squad. More than 40 Christians were taken to the local police station.

Based on eyewitness information the morning of July 27, 2006, some Christians including 90 children between the ages of 9-16 years, and 40 adults, were attending a summer Bible teacher’s training class in the home of Li Lizhong, a villager of Wangxi production team, Gengwang Zhuang, Tong Xu Village, Huainan City, Anhui Province, when the local police made suddenly attacked them.
