Speaking the Word

inward/outward has this powerful quote by
N. Gordon Cosby
The word of the Lord is penetrating and confronting and disturbing, always coming into the order of selfishness from the realm of God’s own being. The way we have organized our society is fundamentally different from the way in which God conceives it, and the way in which God’s own being longs for it to be ordered.

When we speak the word of the Lord, we are speaking it from his realm, from his being, penetrating that realm which is organized in a selfish way completely contrary to God’s justice. Ours is to be the word of light penetrating darkness; the word of justice penetrating all unjust social arrangements; the word of judgment in every arrangement not in consonance with the nature of God’s eternal love.
