Free Food

Simply by signing up for free recipe e-mails, internet users anywhere in the world can send 23 kilograms [50 pounds] of fresh vegetables to the Winnipeg Harvest food bank.

Local vegetable producer Peak of the Market launched an e-mail campaign Thursday in an internet-age way of shoring up support.

For every person who signs up for Peak of the Market's recipe e-mails during the month of February, the company will donate 23 kilograms of Manitoba-grown vegetables to the food bank.

Winnipeg Harvest distributes food to more than 325 food banks and soup kitchens across the province, sharing food with nearly 40,000 people every month.
