what would Jesus buy?

We have entered the season of unbridled materialism. I heard about Reverend Billy a little while ago. Reverend Billy, is the stage name of Bill Talen who leads The Church of Stop Shopping an activist performance group based in New York City.

Now he has a movie opening on November 21st, just in time for Buy Nothing Day on Novemeber 23rd.

You'll also want to check out Advent Conspiracy which is an international movement restoring the scandal of Christmas by worshipping Jesus through compassion, not consumption.

Here's a trailer for the movie:

Yup the season and video has all the elements I immensely despise this time of year: Commercial Gluttony; Nutbar Religious Fanatics parading around in the name of God and 'men in red suits' (although I do believe and like the 'men in black - the last suit I will ever wear) and putrid 'raw Adamic'flesh'.

Can someone wake me after this flick/nightmare (politically correct called) 'Holiday Season' is over?

It is anything but a restful holiday. The true message of Salvation has been suffocated.

I find even the title is so far from being Christo-centric...consider: What is Jesus telling me to do? This expresses a much more intimate relationship with Jesus.

Oh by the way, if people want to spend money - go to World Vision and buy a third world family a goat, some chickens, or some seeds, or immunization for their village.

Sorry for the rant - but I still have some more temple vendors to rid ourselves - whip in hand . . . 'praise the Lord brother..Halillujah Jesus.'
