I was driving in to teach at the cbc yesterday am when I heard the news about the big fire. As I walked from the St. Andrews subway to the cbc building at 8:00am you could both see and smell the smoke. At the end of the day, the smell was even stronger.

The area was recently designated a heritage conservation district. One of the businesses lost - their building is one that collapsed is dukes - the oldest bicycle shop in Toronto if not Canada - 94years [check out the photo on their home page].
