Muppet chickens + 2001: A Space Odyssey
After posting the video of the chickens from the Muppets clucking their way through the Blue Danube waltz, I couldn't resist putting it together with the most iconic use of that tune in contemporary culture. Here, then, is Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, the Chicken Cordon Bleu Danube cut.

Merry Bailout
More Muggeridge for you, this time speaking on the subject of Christmas:

"So it has been celebrated year by year through the centuries of Christendom, in carols, in creches, in plays and processions, in a combination of public worship and and private acts of giving, until now, when faith seems to be expiring, and the light has grown correspondingly dim, it has become a mighty exercise in salesmanship, a gala occasion in the great contemporary cult of consumption, an act of worship directed towards our latest deity--the Gross National Product."
(Malcolm Muggeridge, Jesus: The Man Who Lives, written in 1975. Uncanny.)
