Dan Sheffield points to an excellent couple of links on the issue of aid:

First up is the coming collapse of the aid system. It's an interesting article, with some good links. Check out the dissenting opinions in the comments.

Second is good intentions are not enough. Like Dan, I like the list of worst in-kind donations. When I was in seminary, one of my classmates was considering serving overseas. We joked, that if she ended up overseas, we would save our used tea bags to send to her :-)
