book review: awakened by grace

title: Awakened By Grace
author: Darlene West
publisher: Resource Publications
year: 2020

This novel is the story of death and grief and the slow, painful re-entry into life.
I really wanted to like the book.
The theme is an important one - death and grief and hope are things we don't talk about enough.
But for me, the story seemed to lag.
Maybe the promo blurb I read "Awakened by Grace is a novel of faith and loss in Middle America, in the tradition of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon" raised my expectations too high.

I'd rate it a 3 out of 5.
