Boston - Rick Ball

Orillian, Rick Ball set a new record for amputees competing in the able-bodied category at the 113th running of the Boston Marathon yesterday.

Ball finished the grueling 42.195-kilometre (26 miles, 385 yards) race in a time of three hours, one minute and 50 seconds, bettering the mark of American Amy Winters who held the mark in a time of three hours and four minutes...

In yesterday's event, Ball finished 1,518th overall and was the 1,441st male to cross the finish line. He was 209th out of 2,474 competing in his age category.
