book review: The Bleed of Heaven

title: The Bleed of Heaven
author: Kris Brown
date: 2021
publisher: Resource Publications

Kris Brown, pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Smithville, Texas, as well as involved in running a research clinic dedicated to new treatments for mental illness, has written this book that is rooted in the Gospel of Luke.

At times rambling, interspersed with sermons, and personal reflections, at first I couldn't get into what she was trying to say. But as I read on, I realized that this is what life, what the spiritual life is like. It is not nice and orderly, systematic, with everything in its proper place. Life is messy, at times confusing, and this is where Luke comes in. While Luke offers hope and meaning in the Gospel and specifically in Jesus, it is found in the ordinary and everyday, even the mundane of life.
