Advent 2: Peace

Sometimes the good news begins in the hard places.

Good News does not wait for peace to arrive, it creates peace where there is none.

Good News does not require perfect conditions, it meets us in the rubble, the grief, the uncertainty.

Mark opens his gospel not with comfort, but with a cry in the wilderness:

“Prepare the way of the Lord.”

This is the hope of Advent.
Not optimism but Incarnation.
God becomes flesh in the very places where suffering persists.

As followers of Jesus, we are committed to proclaiming that Good News in the world as it is:

  • In the face of war, we speak peace.
  • In the face of cruelty, we stand with compassion.
  • In the face of despair, we insist on hope.
  • In the face of Empire, we turn to Jesus.

But this is only possible because people who have been transformed by the gospel, choose to believe that the gospel can change the lives of others, and continue to change us.

Remember, the story of Advent is just beginning.
Even here.
Even now.
