Rise from the Ruins - Mark Heard

Mark Heard wrote “Rise From The Ruins” back in 1990

"Go and tell all your friends and relations
Go and say what ain't easy to say
Go and give them some hope
That we might rock this boat
And rise from the ruins one day."

We are living in one of the weirdest, wildest, hardest, most unexpected time in recent history.

Are we really expecting that all will be different in 2026? And yet, we are people of hope.

What does rising from the ruins of the last several years look like in 2026?
I’m not sure.
But we hold to the convictions we believe.

  • Jesus is an anchor in our storms.
  • He gives his peace to those who trust in Him.
  • He is our ever-present help in hard times.
  • We have a high priest who can identify with our weakness and pain.
  • He is with us always.

Let’s live out those convictions.

People need to see hope lived out and this hope stands out when we do so with humility and kindness. That kind of hope just might rock the boat of our world’s apathy and anxiety.

“We can walk, we can talk
We ain't yet pillars of salt
We will rise from the ruins while we can."
