June 21 - National Aboriginal Day

My good friend Alvin over at walking church has a post on National Aboriginal Day here in Canada. After outlining the history of the day, Alvin makes this great comment:
While my earth suit is made of Metis cloth, my true identity is found in Christ. The body of Christ is very diverse with much earthly colour and broad citizenship but collectively we are overwhelming transformed and unified in Him. We have His identity - this unifies us...now and forever!

As God's people, we need to continue to learn to celebrate the diversity that God has created us with, recognizing that we are different colours and races and shapes and personalities - and that is all OK - it's more than OK - it's the way God has designed his creation.
We need to confess our mistreatment of Aboriginal peoples & repent of that.
& recognize that God has not only designed us with incredible diversity - he has overwhelming transformed and unified in Him. We have His identity - this unifies us...now and forever!
