upside down | rightside up

walking church has a post where he talks about being outside
The action is where is Jesus is at! Often outside on the forgotten trails...so if you do not feel like an 'insider' with human conformity - this may not be a bad thing.

In a related vein backyard missionary talks about how we get things in reverse.
“I am convinced that our job is not to get the community into the church, but to get the church into the community”.

As the photo shows - we often get things upside down, even without realizing it - God turns things rightside up.

Thanks this picture is so cool! Of course, the challenge is a hard one but needed one too.

i too love the picture - i think i saw a few fall from their comfy pews into the world community.

Although, i suspect, if we peered inside the windows...there are probably still some armchair 'thrill seekers' who brought their own seatbelts and are stubbornly waiting for the ride to begin. RoG

Anne Dillard writes
Does anyone have the foggiest idea of what sort of power we so blithely invoke? The churches are children playing on the floor with their chemistry sets, mixing up a batch of TNT to kill a Sunday morning. It is madness to wear ladies’ straw hats and velvet hats to church; we should be all wearing crash helmets. Ushers should issue life preservers and signal flares; they should lash us to our pews.
