sheepwalking

Seth Godin [author of Purple Cow and Small is the New Big] blogs about sheepwalking, which he defines,
as the outcome of hiring people who have been raised to be obedient and giving them a braindead job and enough fear to keep them in line.
What Seth talks about in terms of the job market, is also true for many churches...
  • both on the part of leaders & structures that are more about control than about equipping & releasing into ministry; and,
  • "church-goers" who are content to sit and be entertained [of course, we never use that sort of terminology].
