A Portland judge has ruled that when bike lane striping vanishes... so does a rider’s legal protection.
In another ruling against cyclists,
yahoo news reports:
the removal of a bike lane in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn... the city erased the bike lane from the Orthodox Jewish neighborhood because some conservative residents were upset about seeing women in skimpy clothing ride by every day.
Not only do cyclists get no respect, it is increasingly dangerous to ride, and will continue to be until city councils, law makers and law enforcement agencies recognize the validity of bicycles as lawful, green and appropriate mode of transportation.
