CBC Radio, this week, is starting to air a 40 part series: This I Believe - A Window into the Hearts and Minds of Canadians, hosted by Preston Manning. The essays are 3-5 minutes long, by from prominent Canadians, known for their achievements in their communities, nationally, or on the international stage. You can listen to and/or read the essays on the site: This I Believe. The first three are:
- Beverley McLaughlin, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada
- David Chilton, Author of best-selling book in Canadian history, The Wealthy Barber
- Clara Hughes, the only athlete in history to win multiple medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics
Preston is known as a man of integrity and personal Christian faith - I’m glad to see his leadership in hosting these segments. We need to have a more robust conversation in Canada about matters of the heart that motivate all of us, no matter our religious orientation. He is attempting to do this through his think tank, the Manning Centre for Building Democracy.
