A couple of friends posted about 2 different Palm Sunday services
1. In the 1st message, the pastor strongly inferred that those who did not rebel against masks and social distancing did not have the Spirit of God and were like the fickle crowd who first proclaimed Jesus as king, then chose Barabbas.
- What has, for centuries, fostered Christian unity in the Spirit has been the recognition that we are all connected to each other by our faith in Christ.
- Doctrinal or political differences fade in light of our common ground at the cross.
- That ground was the place where broken relationships were repaired by and through the grace of God…. the place where people found the love of Christ and shared what they had received.
- Take away that ground and all that is left is scorched earth and a broken cross.
- This pastor probably loves the Lord, loves his family, loves his church, but he cannot love anyone who doesn’t see things politically the same way he does.
That breaks my heart.
Jesus wept…
2. The 2nd sermon was preached by a man shattered by the divisions in our churches and our land…
- He showed his viewers Jesus and a kingdom not made with hands…
- I don’t know what he thinks about masks.
