It’s after Christmas, and all through the house....
There are several possibilities beyond
“not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.”
- You are exhausted.
- You are depressed.
- You are secretly relieved.
- You are feeling over-fed and over-spent.
We often hear during the Christmas season, about the importance of keeping Christmas alive in your heart and spirit 365 days a year?
A spirit of...
- gentleness and giving,
- ... patience and kindness,
- ... joy and love,
- ... family and friendship,
- ... generosity and selflessness.
All by remembering the great gift of the coming of Jesus, a life that began in the manger, leading to the cross.
It’s after Christmas.
I have had 3 Christmas dinners so far...
- last weekend with part of our family (1 of our kids & their family couldn't make it) with my dad
- Christmas day with friends and a cousin
- boxing day with our kids and grandkids
Christmas is over... except it's not... the 12 days of Christmas continue until Epiphany. My friends in Ethiopia celebrate Christmas then.
The challenge of keeping and living a Christmas spirit begins. So, no matter how your Christmas went...
- ... who visited you (or didn’t)
- ... how many attended Christmas Eve service (or didn’t)
- ... what you got as a present (or didn’t),
- … remember, it’s not about you.
It’s about the birth of the Child in Bethlehem.
It's about the incarnation of the Lord of the Universe into this messed-up world.
It's about how Jesus - the Messiah - the Christ - the Lord - is meant to live in our hearts and minds and lives, changing us from the inside out, impacting the world with the good news.
So welcome to the days after Christmas. And living out the Christmas spirit, living out the life of Jesus all year long.
