Jesus Was a Troublemaker

Fred Peatross posted this over at abductive columns
1) Born of a virgin (what a way to start)

2) Ran away at age twelve

3) Turned a illegal market place on its head

4) Subverted religious leadership

5) Last will be first and the first will be last (wonder how that went over?)

6) He told people that he came with a sword not peace

7) He said it was a sin to think and look too deeply on a pretty woman

Didn't he come with peace, not a sword?

Don't forget that he was the first to institute civil disobedience. He talked to hookers and widows and bicoloured blokes (Samaritans).

I think that Ghandi may have looked a bit like Jesus.

Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34
At the same time he did come with peace... Jesus used paradox all the time to force us out of preconceptions and assumptions about what his Kingdom was all about.
You can't put him in a box. Whenever we try, we end up with religion of Christianity not Christ.
