starting small group discussions

This list discussion staters from Water's Edge is too good not to pass on... I can see some wheels turning...

How not to Start a Discussion...

10. Share the worst sin you’ve ever committed.

9. If you were God, who would you punish first?

8. Which person in this group do you think needs to find Jesus the most?

7. Which people at your church do you wish would find a different church, and why?

6. If you could erase any verse out of the Bible, which one would it be?

5. Share the juiciest piece of gossip you know so we can pray about it.

4. If you could have anything from your neighbor’s house, what would it be?

3. What’s your favorite of The 10 Commandments to break?

2. If you could change anything about your spouse, what would it be?

1. If you could commit any sin and get away with it, what would it be?

I'll take this as an opportunity to answer your questions.

10. I suppose I may have blasphemed the Holy Spirit a few times while attempting to witness to pentecostals.

9. Pentecostals; they just don't get it: both the leadership and the lemmings.

8. Relative answer, I'd probably say the person who is the most uptight and neoconservative.

7. Those who clap and dance during music time. We're not at the bar on friday night!

6. Numbers 31:34.

5. It's all in the wording! Never actually say gossip, just avoid that negative sounding word altogether! Replace it with: "I've got a request to share..."

4. His house. I don't own one yet.

3. That one about not cussing. Have you never seen Pulp Fiction? Come on! Samuel L Jackson makes cussing so cool!

2. The fact that she doesn't exist. (I'm single. So I'd probably be at a singles small group, so then the question would probably be about: if you could have anyone here, who would it be?)

1. Vanity.
